Replacing your roof may be necessary to renew you homeowners insurance. Older homes and homes in some areas where the weather can damage a roof are being targeted for stricter home owner insurance. Some roofs that are 20 years or older are automatically being rejected. Roofs that pass a home inspection may not pass an insurances company’s and become another big payment for new homeowners who struggled to just buy their house. In Colorado, insurance policies have an document saying that won’t cover wooden shingles on a roof. In Oklahoma, Allstate gave their members cash value for their roofs that were older than 10 years. Some insurance agencies are saying some damage is not caused by the weather but by normal wear and tear.
